The Society does not provide funding for:

  • Private businesses.

  • Sporting events.

  • Utility accounts including but not limited to power, rates, insurance.

  • Wages or rent.

  • Loans or cash advances.

We are a grant-making organisation and are not a lending institution.

Payments and reimbursements

Approved grants are paid directly to the supplier or service provider.

We do not make payments directly to individuals, and we do not reimburse costs that have already been paid. Applicants must apply and receive approval before purchasing goods, booking services, or making payment.

Supplier details, quotes, invoices, or other supporting documentation may be required before payment can be made.

Feedback following an approved grant

If a grant is approved, we ask that the applicant or recipient provides a short statement explaining how the funding helped. Where appropriate and with consent, a photo may also be provided.

Feedback is required before any further grant applications from the same applicant, organisation, or recipient can be considered.

How grant decisions are made

All grant applications are considered and decided by the Taupō Interchurch Welfare Society Committee. Decisions are based on the information provided in the application, the Society’s funding priorities and guidelines, the level of need demonstrated, and the funding available at the time.

The staff and volunteers at The Op Shop Taupō do not assess, approve, decline, or influence grant decisions. Their role is separate from the grant decision-making process. Applicants should not approach Op Shop staff or volunteers to discuss, support, or influence an application.

Application deadlines

The committee meets on the third Tuesday of each month.

Completed applications and all supporting information must be received no later than five days before the next committee meeting. Late or incomplete applications may be held over until the following month.

Submitting an application does not guarantee that funding will be approved.
